Julie Combs RN BSN CAPS
CEO/Owner
My approach to nursing was expanded exponentially just after graduation from college when my then 9-year-old brother suffered a traumatic brain injury during a tonsillectomy. There were so many questions and needs for home care following that event. It was the 70’s and there were not a lot of services or answers. As a family we learned a lot by doing it ourselves. What followed for me was a lifelong career commitment to care for patients AND their families by looking not just at the illness or the disease the patient may have but with respect and care for their physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs as well. Today they call it Holistic Care. I call it Personal Care.
With over 40 years as an RN and career opportunities in hospitals, home health agencies, Medicare review, and leadership roles such as Director of Operations, Regional Manager and Chief Compliance Officer, my sisters and I started a Home Health Agency. My husband, a career Army Officer, had suffered a stroke and I needed once again to attend to family care. The Home Health Agency is named HomeLife Personal Care because that’s what we provide, Personal Care. We are committed advocates to those who need help at home and passionate about providing quality Personal Care.

Rhonda Cline Office Manager
Office Manager
I started in the Home Health industry 15 years ago when I got my certification as a CNA. I then worked for a Jacksonville based Home Health agency for 13 years in the administrative/HR branch and had the pleasure of working with many wonderful clinicians and patients. After growing up with a brother that was home bound, our family knew the importance of having good, dependable and loving caregivers to lean on. Once I started in the field it was essential that I be able to provide that to other families that have the same needs. When I started here at HomeLife, I got also got my Home Health Aide certification, learning much about the needs of the clients and the expectations of the Aides, which has given me a unique insight into the Personal Care business. I am currently employed as Office Manager with HomeLife Personal Care. My goals are to continue working with caregivers in the hopes of determining the most qualified and helping them to train and grow so the we at HomeLife can provide the clients with the absolute best care possible.
Our story
To tell you about HomeLife Personal Care services, we must first tell you the story of us. We are sisters whose family experienced an inexplicable tragedy in 1978. Our little brother Robbie underwent what was thought to be minor surgery, but came away suffering a traumatic brain injury. He was 9 years old and the youngest sibling. We struggled to aide our mother in caring for Robbie, but as we all grew older and started families of our own and some of us moved away, the burden of 24 hour care fell solely to our mother. We learned many things from our years with Robbie. He changed our lives, not only because of his condition, but also of his character. One lesson we learned early on is that dependable, quality assistance is very difficult to find.
We have dedicated our lives to careers in healthcare and helping those who cannot help themselves. We have 90 combined years of professional healthcare and homecare experience and a lifetime of personal experience taking care of the needs of patients. We realized a lifelong dream to provide help to other families that are inasmuch need as we were by forming Homelife. We are a local company not a franchise. Our experience has taught us there are many that can benefit from our services!
Return to topWhy does training matter?
We understand that the quality of care depends on the training and education our caregivers receive that is why all of our caregivers are required to be experienced as well as specialized training in Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Stroke recovery as well as post-hospitalization care. We pride ourselves in hiring people for their compassion, experience, and flexibility. But we know this isn’t all it takes to provide the best care possible. Caregivers also need excellent skills and competency in care — and that comes from excellent training.
-
Trained caregivers provide the highest quality of care to you or your loved one
-
Trained caregivers know how to recognize when medical care is needed
-
Trained caregivers can help their clients avoid injury around the home
A caregiver who is specifically trained in his or her job will provide a consistent, higher level of quality care.
