End-of-life care

It’s a tender time when a loved one approaches the end of life. Many families hire us so our caregivers can manage the physical side of twenty-four-hour care. Family members can then focus on making cherished memories in the limited time that remains with their relative.

Special training

Our caregivers are specially trained to address the needs of people going through the dying process. From bedsores to wide swings in temperature, dyspnea (trouble breathing) to incontinence, we are there to be sure your loved one is as comfortable as they can be.

Emotional support

Most people are not familiar with the dying process. It can be scary for the client and extremely sad and worrisome for the family. Our caregivers have a lot of experience caring for those at the end of life. They bring big hearts and a soothing manner to support both the client and family members as they go through the process of saying goodbye.

Keeping your loved one clean

Toward the end of life, most people end up spending all their time in bed. Our caregivers are expert at giving bed baths so your relative stays clean and dry and free from bedsores. We put lotion on the skin and make sure to turn the client regularly to prevent the development of pressure ulcers. We are there to help with toileting, to change diapers promptly, and to empty urine bags when they become full.

Promoting quality of life

As part of our intake process, we learn about the interests of each of our clients. What activities give them joy? Then our caregivers look for opportunities to bring these elements into your loved one’s daily experience. Do they enjoy the birds? Let’s be sure they get time by the window or out in the yard to watch birds at a feeder. What kinds of music do they like? Do they like to sing? Let’s make a joyful noise together. Our goal is to make each day the best day it can be.

Coordinating with hospice

If your family member has chosen hospice, we collaborate with the medical team to pick up where they leave off. Hospice will send a nurse or home health aide a few times a week for pain management and bathing. We fill in by providing daytime and nighttime care in between their visits. We can give patients medications that the team has set out. Plus, we can alert the nurse and doctor if there are problems with breakthrough pain. We get strategies in place to be sure your loved one is as comfortable and pain free as possible.

If you live far away and are unable to spend time with a relative nearing the end of their life, we understand! Our in-home caregivers can be beside your loved one, providing twenty-four-hour care so they will have a person available night and day to attend to their needs.

If you are a care manager or guardian, we gladly collaborate with you to provide the daily in-home care your client needs while you are managing other aspects of their affairs.
