Short shifts (two-hour and three-hour)
Most home care companies offer caregivers in the home only in four-hour and full-day shifts. They even have a minimum number of days per week.
Flexible scheduling! We understand that every family’s needs are different, so we offer flexibility in our shifts and scheduling. From 24/7 coverage to short shifts of two or three hours at a time, we adjust our care services to meet your needs.
For instance, do you just need a “Rise and Shine” caregiver to help with getting your loved one up and dressed in the morning?
- Maybe all you need is a midday visit to prepare a light meal, take your relative for a walk, and do a load of laundry.
- Or perhaps you’d like a tuck-in service to make sure all medications are taken and that everything is in order before the lights go out.
Our in-home caregivers can come every day or just a few days per week. We work with you to create a care plan tailored to your unique needs, the time of day you prefer, and which tasks you want accomplished.

A typical “Rise and Shine" visit
To get a sense of how this works, after meeting with you and the person you care for, we might suggest a “Rise and Shine” visit that includes the following:
- A morning shower or bath assist
- Getting dressed and shaved
- Changing the sheets or doing a load of laundry
- Preparation of a light meal
- Reminder to take morning medications
As your loved one’s needs change, we can modify our caregiving activities or expand hours as appropriate.

Long-term care insurance
Do you have long-term care insurance? Most policies require a one- to ninety-day “elimination period” during which you need to hire home care privately, before the insurance kicks in.
Many families begin with a short shift arrangement just to give the spouse or live-in family member some respite. Then, once the elimination period is complete, you can increase the home care hours to more time if you want, since the insurance will then be in effect.
